The company’s rich history began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. Massimiliano Rimensi (Max) picked the name "Duca Pipe" and its grades, (Rusticated = Nobile, Sandblast = Barone, Smooth = Cavaliere), to honor of the city of Ferrara, Italy. His hometown. Max uses Ebanite, metacrillato, animal horns and bones, Olivewood, Boxwood, Rosewood, Black and White Bamboo, Amboina, Tulipwood and other exotic woods to adorn his pipes with bands, rings, etc.
